NCRP Board Chair Sherece West-Scantlebury will moderate the discussion, and a panel of leaders from the philanthropic sector will then offer reactions and responses to their remarks. The panelists include: Lori Bezahler from the Edward W. Hazen Foundation; Deborah McGriff from the New Schools Venture Fund; and Jennifer Esterline from the Texas Education Grantmakers Advocacy Consortium.

This debate was inspired by our recent Philamplify assessment on the Walton Family Foundation (WFF), which found that, while WFF’s market-based strategies worked well in achieving its environmental conservation goals, stakeholders disagree about whether a similar approach to education helps achieve widespread equity.

Philamplify seeks to spur broader conversation on the issues surfaced through our research, and we invite dissent about our findings. I hope you’ll be able to join us as we delve deeper into the challenges and benefits of market and non-market oriented approaches in our children’s education.
