WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The South is home to some of the fastest growing communities in the country, including Raleigh, which ranks number one nationwide, yet philanthropic dollars have not followed the population shift, according to the first of a series of reports from Grantmakers for Southern Progress and the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP).

LaTosha Brown explains what researchers are seeing.

“We’re seeing the growth in the South,” she states. “We’re seeing the South become more diverse. We’re seeing all of the richness, yet we don’t see the philanthropic dollars the same way and just based on the demographic growth and the richness of the people and the place, there’s a tremendous amount of missed opportunity.”
