NCRP Invites Three Leaders to Advance a More Accountable Philanthropy
Daniel Altschuler, Fatima Angeles, and Yordanos Eyoel bring their personal and professional experience at a crucial time for philanthropy
WASHINGTON, DC — The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) begins another fiscal year by welcoming three new members to its board. The organization, with almost 50 years of philanthropic accountability and organizing, announced this week that Daniel Altschuler, Fatima Angeles, and Yordanos Eyoel will join the board on October 1. The additions strengthen NCRP’s mission to transform the philanthropic sector to better serve communities most impacted by injustice.
“NCRP’s board brings broad strategic influence and deep understanding of the movements and communities that the sector should resource,” said Dr. Dwayne Proctor, NCRP Board Chair. “In this urgent moment, when so many funders are looking for meaningful guidance, we are fortunate to have a wealth of leadership.”
In addition to the introduction of new members, NCRP President & CEO Aaron Dorfman expressed appreciation for Molly Schultz Hafid, who will conclude her board service after 10 years on the board, including the last four years as Treasurer.
“Molly was such an amazing thought partner to me for the past decade,” said Dorfman. “I greatly valued her perspectives on organizational strategy and finances.”
An organizer, political scientist, and writer whose work spans civic participation, immigrant justice, and movement communications, Daniel Altschuler previously served as Co-Executive Director of Make the Road Action and Director of Politics and Strategic Communications at Make the Road New York. Altschuler holds a D.Phil. in Politics and an M.Sc. in Development Studies from the University of Oxford (Rhodes Scholar). Altschuler is the Managing Director of Freedom Together Fund.
Fatima Angeles leads a global portfolio funding democracy, immigrant rights, reproductive justice, and worker rights and well-being. She previously served as Vice President of Programs at The California Wellness Foundation and held leadership roles in evaluation, learning, and grantmaking. Angeles serves on the boards of John Muir Health and the CARESTAR Foundation and holds an M.P.H. from Columbia University. Angeles is the Executive Director at Levi Strauss Foundation.
Yordanos Eyoel is an Ethiopian-American democracy entrepreneur building a transnational civil society ecosystem to advance inclusive and resilient democracies. Formerly Managing Partner at New Profit, she is an Ashoka Fellow and Civil Society Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Eyoel’s work has been featured by TED, SSIR, NPR, Fast Company, and Harvard Business Review. She holds an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School. Eyoel is the Founder and CEO of Keseb.
